Winter

From Still Life, Three Worlds by Dai Pan (潘岱). Poem 09.

Pink, slowly tears the frosted winter free,
Sugar-coated season begins to slip away.
Paint peels along the tiles you could see,
Flowing towards next spring in one day.

I wait for ages in the cracks to grow,
Together on grass, beneath the snow.
Missing you and summer's gentle glow,
Memories of our days will never go.

Sunset offers chocolate to the moon,
You speak of bread and liberty is coming soon.
Freedom found itself in a simple way,
That plays throughout eternity everyday.

I love autumn's eyes, which means you too,
The moon walks branches, crosses the pool.
No need for misty poets to pursue,
Nor love-feared warriors rush to.

Walk past the red bricks, where all has died,
To find you, when windows vanish from our sight.

Still Life 09

Winter

Pink, slowly tears the frosted winter free,
Sugar-coated season begins to slip away.
Paint peels along the // tiles you could see,
Flowing towards next spring in one day.

I wait for ages // in the cracks to grow,
Together on grass, beneath the snow.
Missing you and summer's gentle glow,
Memories of our days will never go.

Sunset offers chocolate to the moon,
You speak of bread // and liberty is coming soon.
Freedom found itself in a simple way,
That plays throughout eternity everyday.

I love autumn's eyes, // which means you too,
The moon walks branches, // crosses the pool.
No need for misty poets to pursue,
Nor love-feared warriors rush to.

Walk past the red bricks, // where all has died,
To find you, when windows vanish // from our sight.
