Washing

From Still Life, Three Worlds by Dai Pan (潘岱). Poem 20.

At five, I get up from the boat, washing;
Seven, washing, waking up, washing.
Getting out of bed, washing.

When water flows over my head,
In the bottle, from the sky,
The clear water gently drips, dripping,
Warm all the way to my toes,
Touching my entire body, waking up, washing.

Going out, washing; back home, washing;
Eating, washing; sleeping, washing.
Today, washing; tomorrow, washing.

Still Life 20

Washing

At five, I get up from the boat, // washing;
Seven, washing, waking up, // washing.
Getting out of bed, washing.

When water flows over my head,
In the bottle, from the sky,
The clear water gently drips, // dripping,
Warm all the way to my toes,
Touching my entire body, // waking up, washing.

Going out, washing; // back home, washing;
Eating, washing; sleeping, // washing.
Today, washing; tomorrow, washing.
